The “My Baby’s Movements” app is an app for women in the third trimester of pregnancy specifically focused on fetal movements. The My Baby’s Movements app is part of a large research project, which is taking place across maternity hospitals in Australia and New Zealand, to increase pregnant women’s awareness of their babies’ movements. The My Baby’s Movements app was developed by the Mater Research Institute – The University of Queensland by a group of researchers, midwives, obstetricians and pregnant women.
Because the app is part of a research project, the app is only available for women who are receiving their care from selected hospitals. If you have been invited to use the app and have been given a “study ID”, please download the My Baby’s Movements app! Your baby’s movements are a good indicator of your baby’s health and wellbeing. While there is a lot of information available about pregnancy in general, information about babies’ movements during pregnancy may not be so easy to find. The aim of the My Baby’s Movements app is to give you trustworthy information about movements, to support you to be mindful of your baby’s movements, and to provide information about what to do if you are worried about your baby’s movements.
The project is being led by experts in the field from Australia and New Zealand, as well as the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Norway. Other professional bodies involved in developing the app are the Australia and New Zealand Stillbirth Alliance Research Consortium (ANZSARC) and the Consumer Advisory Panel of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.
