Hodl My Secret is a secure, reliable and trusted solution that encrypts your secret file using very strong encryption (256-bit AES) and splits the file into 3 shares so that you can keep each piece at a different location. Your file is encrypted using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a random password of 256 bits. You don’t need to know this password and you don’t need to remember it either. Hodl My Secret uses Information Dispersal Algorithms to split your file and password into 3 shares. It’s impossible to re-create your original file using only 1 share. If 1 share is lost, stolen, damaged or hacked, then you can re-create your file using the 2 shares. This is a proven algorithm that was found in 1990s. Since then there has been a lot of academic research on sharing secrets securely. Hodl My Secret uses the trusted algorithms to protect your sensitive data. No Need to Remember Your Password. Your sensitive file is encrypted using a random password. You don’t have to know or remember this password. This random password is split into 3 shares using trusted algorithms to share secrets. Just keep 3 shares at different locations, then your secret is safe. 2 of 3 Shares are Enough. If 1 share is lost, stolen, hacked then you can still re-create the original file using the other 2 shares. In case of a disaster (fire, earthquake, tsunami) you can bring together the 2 shares and re-create your file. You can store each share at a different cloud storage like Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive etc.
